What is a Writing Mentor and What's Involved?

Thinking about writing a book but found yourself caught up in the overwhelming enormity of it all? Or are you ready and poised but stuck in those initial stages of developing your book concept and outlining its structure? Maybe you have no clue where to start at all, but you cannot stop thinking about this book idea that has been spinning around in your head for years.

Let's work together and bring your book to fruition!

A writing mentor is your biggest cheerleader! I guide you through the writing process and help you commit to your book, write it, format it, structure it and overcome any obstacles you hit along the way, and guide you through publishing. It's my job in coaching you to keep you on track with assignments and guidance and to support you when things get a little tricky.

I specialise in mentoring authors of non-fiction works in a variety of subject areas, most notably health, mental wellbeing, parenting, business, and lifestyle. As your writing mentor I bring you from idea to publishing.

I work with writers at every stage of their writing career, from beginners to established authors, coaching and providing feedback and support an all aspects of your writing and writing life. We work together through Zoom, and via email, and connect through your passion and writing. Some aspects we work through during the writing mentor programme include:

  1. Feedback on your work in progress.
  2. Inspiration and motivation.
  3. Productivity.
  4. Breaking through creative blocks.
  5. Guidance through the creative process.
  6. Assignments to refocus your work and thought processes.
  7. Prioritisation of projects and time management.
  8. Creating a writing structure and habit.
  9. Increased confidence in your work.
  10. Guidance on the route to publishing.

Need a Kick Start?

They say writing a non-fiction book is easier than writing fiction. Which makes sense in one way but it doesn't mean it's any less work. Ok, so we're not following our characters and chasing them through the ups and downs of their experiences, exploring settings, boundaries, and perspectives. But we are working through a narrative and guiding our readers. We are working through a carefully organised plan, researching, and preparing to bring our non-fiction to life. Oh yes, sounds easy. Well, it can be with the right guide, tools, and mindset!
